Mary's Peak Shootout, Philomath Oregon

Back in January, I hosted one of my first photography shoot outs. My idea behind the shootouts, was to bring together other creative photographers in the industry. I wanted to meet others who shared the same goals and have the same passions. This was a chance for photographers to try out new techniques or skills that they've been wanting to practice. I feel like it's very important to get out and practice as much as you can.

My weakness is shooting with solo models! I am a photographer who focuses more on the connections between humans beings, and being able to get out and practice with solo models really helped! It has been awesome being able to meet other photographers that I've only seen on social media. A lot of us have created new friendships through these shootouts! I am hoping to host more of these on a month-to-month basis, and hopefully keep it going.

"It was such a blast to meet you all! Thank you for being so encouraging and kind! I’m so glad to have been a part of it."

Our first shootout location was one of my favorites - Mary's Peak off of Hwy 34 in Philomath, Oregon. I absolutely love this place. It is near and dear to my heart. I grew up in Philomath and Corvallis, and we would go up to Mary's Peak when I was younger. One time when I was little, we got stuck from the snow! The roads are not maintained up there during the winter time, so just a heads up!

We were honestly expecting snow up on top of Mary's Peak, but instead were greeted with a beautiful sunny view of the valley, atmospheric fog, and big bold clouds. Needless to say, it was STUNNING! Here are some images from each of the photographers that attended. It just goes to show that even with the same subjects and background, each photographer has such a unique style and vision.
